More Day 2 Berlin Saturday September 10th
I began to get my bearings, had a bite to eat, and continued a random walk in the general vicinity of the hotel. The looming, incongruous, ultra-modern dome of the rather old Reichstag (below) seems to pop up at every turn. Better shots to come later. Before long, two realizations began to dawn on me. First, Berlin has some of the most extreme architectural contrasts you'll ever see, sometimes as part of the same building. Second, after sleeping only about an hour on the overnight flight, I was getting punchy and needed some shut-eye. I returned to the hotel, got my room, and napped a satisfying couple of hours.
